Travelers on select <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/aerospaceglobalnews.com\/tag\/delta-air-lines\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"3436\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Delta Air Lines<\/span><\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/aerospaceglobalnews.com\/tag\/jetblue\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"1470\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">JetBlue<\/span><\/a><\/strong> flights will be able to check in, drop off bags, complete TSA screening, and board a secure bus directly to Logan Airport\u2019s post-security area.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative is being led by the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) in partnership with the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/aerospaceglobalnews.com\/tag\/transportation-security-administration\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"6885\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Transportation Security Administration<\/span><\/a><\/strong> and airport mobility company Landline. Massport says the goal is to reduce congestion at Logan while making the airport journey less stressful for travelers.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-6-xl-font-size\">How the Logan remote terminal works<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Passengers using the service will first travel to the Framingham Logan Express terminal rather than heading directly to the airport. Each bus accommodates up to 55 passengers. Travelers can reserve spots online up to 90 days in advance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The shuttle service costs $9 each way, and children under 17 ride free with an accompanying adult. Parking at the Framingham site costs $7 per day\u2014significantly lower than on-airport parking rates at Logan where economy lots cost $37 per day.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-6-xl-font-size\">Delta and JetBlue check-in counters on-site<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Framingham facility includes airline check-in counters staffed by Delta and JetBlue representatives and TSA screening lanes designed to mirror those at the airport.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDelta is built for Boston, and we\u2019re always looking for ways to make the travel experience better for our New England customers,\u201d&nbsp; said Charlie Schewe, Director of Sales &#8211; East, Delta Air Lines, in the Massport announcement. \u201cThis forward-thinking program is exactly the kind of innovation we want to be part of \u2013 elevating the journey and getting people to their destination seamlessly. As Massport pilots this first-in-the-nation approach to remote check-in and security screening for customers in the region, we\u2019re excited to try new ways to enhance our customers&#8217; journey by thinking outside the box and collaborating with our airport partners.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-6-xl-font-size\">Massport TSA pilot aims to make the journey more efficient<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Remote Terminal pilot program is part of Massport\u2019s broader vision to reimagine the travel experience and make the passenger journey more seamless, connected, and efficient,\u201d said Davey in the Massport announcement. \u201cPassengers in and around Metro West now have a new, low-stress way to reach Boston Logan. Imagine arriving at the airport, having already checked in and cleared security and then being dropped off just steps from your gate. This is the kind of stress-free process we\u2019re working to make a reality for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.travelmarketreport.com\/air\/articles\/boston-logan-airport-launches-straight-to-gate-off-site-security-option\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">TravelMarket Report<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, the authority could expand the concept to other Logan Express locations if demand proves strong.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going to start small to see if we can get folks excited about it. My goal is, if this is successful in Framingham, then we would make it permanent in Framingham, maybe Braintree, for example, Woburn,\u201d TravelMarket Report quotes Davey as saying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The airport is also considering extending the remote TSA clearance service to other airlines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-6-xl-font-size\">Building on the success of the Logan Express strategy to reduce congestion\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The TSA pilot also builds on Logan\u2019s long-running Logan Express (LEX) strategy, originally introduced to reduce roadway congestion around the airport by encouraging suburban park-and-ride transit options.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LEX offers service to every terminal at Boston Logan from five locations: Framingham, Woburn, Braintree, Danvers, and Boston&#8217;s Back Bay. LEX carried over 2.7 million passengers last year, with Framingham being the busiest location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-6-xl-font-size\">TSA explores off-site screening at other US airports<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The remote TSA pilot at Logan would help manage growing passenger demand without investing in major airport expansion projects.
