BAE Systems <\/a><\/span><\/strong>is expanding its footprint in the state of New York to support the next generation of electric flight<\/a><\/span><\/strong>, as airlines and aircraft manufacturers push to reduce emissions and operating costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company\u2019s Airborne Power Systems team will soon be cutting the ribbon on a new 150,000-square-foot facility in Endicott. The enhanced site will focus on high-voltage energy storage systems and advanced electrification<\/a><\/span><\/strong> technologies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The campus will also support product development, manufacturing, and field operations tied to emerging electric and hybrid aircraft programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n

Endicott expansion will advance technologies for electric aviation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Company officials say the expansion is intended to strengthen collaboration among engineers, regulators, and industry collaborators as electrified aircraft move closer to commercial reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSustainability in aerospace is no longer a passing trend, but a necessity,\u201d said a BAE Systems spokesperson. \u201cGrowing regulatory pressure and global environmental concerns are driving the industry\u2019s shift toward more efficient aircraft.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BAE Systems brings decades of aerospace and electrification experience to the effort. The company has produced electric propulsion systems for ground vehicles for more than 25 years and has developed flight control systems for military and commercial aircraft for more than 40 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those programmes, the company says, require integrating complex hardware and software, anticipating failure modes in safety-critical systems, and navigating rigorous certification standards. These are capabilities the company believes are essential as the aviation industry shifts toward electric propulsion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Endicott facility is expected to serve as a central hub for advancing those technologies, positioning the region as part of the growing effort to make air travel more efficient.<\/p>\n\n\n
